Get ready to hug someone, sit on the couch, eat a lot, and figure out what you are grateful for before your turn comes around the table… For some inspiration, I thought I would share one of the most grateful notes the OCF has every received – this is from a woman you recently helped.

 

Dear OCF

My name is XXXX and just recently I was a blessed recipient of a very generous grant that changed my life both financially and spiritually. Your foundation restored my hope in humanity. I say this cause since I was a young girl, I’ve endured a lot of hardship. I’m a Viet Nam Veteran and unfortunately haven’t received a lick of help from them in fifty years. So you can only imagine my elation when a women named Karen Dwyer called me with great news that the foundation was paying the whole bill to Roof Girl. Thank you all so much for changing my life. I was in hospital 9 month mostly dying when I finally fought to survive, I came home to a damaged roof and body. The moral of this email is 2-fold. When you’re fighting for your life your always asking God why am I suffering so and why do I need to survive. Well He answers through the awesome kindness of people like Karen and her Board of Directors at (OCF). Thank You again I will never forget all that you all have done for me. Thank you for lifting a dark cloud and shining some light into my life. Call on me if it be in my power to pay it forward in any way I can.
